Baked cinnamon apples stuffed with cherries
Ingredients
● 1/2 teaspoon TERANA ground cinnamon
● 1/8 teaspoon TERANA ground nutmeg
● 1/3 cup dried cherries, coarsely chopped
● 3 tbsp chopped almonds
● 1 tbsp wheat germ
● 1 tbsp of very compact brown sugar
● 6 small Golden Delicious apples, approx. (800g) in total
● 1/2 cup apple juice
● 1/4 cup of water
● 2 tablespoons dark honey
● 2 tablespoons walnut oil or canola oil
● 1 tbsp of powdered sugar
Preparation
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a small mold, mix the cherries, almonds, wheat germ, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg until all ingredients are evenly distributed. Booking.
3. Remove the core from the apples by taking them by the stem, stopping 2 cm from the base.
4. Pour the mixture evenly into each apple. Place the apples side up in a baking pan. Pour the apple juice and water into the bowl. Drizzle the honey and oil evenly over the apples and cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil. Bake until apples are tender when pierced with a knife, 50 to 60 minutes.
5. Transfer the apples to individual plates and drizzle with any leftover pan juices. Sprinkle a little powdered sugar on them.
6. Serve hot or at room temperature.
